'Anjar

'Anjar is a former Umayyad city from the 8th Century.  It sits near the Syrian border in the Biqa' (Bekaa) valley - today it is an Armenian city.  After the Syrian intervention in Lebanon in 1976 (I was there), it became a major Syrian military installation - hence my interest....
