Juneau

Juneau is the state capital. It is uniques that no roads connect it to the rest of Alaska or the contiguous United States. It is accessible only by boat or plane.

They primarily operate in Alaskan coastal waters and the Pacific Northwest - it is homeported in Newport, Oregon. It is equipped with multibeam sonar systems to conduct surveys of the ocean floor.

In port on the morning I took this are five cruise ships with varying passenger capacities totaling over 7,000 passengers, plus any crewmembers going ashore. Juneau has a population of just over 30,000 - the downtown of the city comprises a mere 10 blocks.
