California

As many of you know, Rick was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January 2021. Following a series of tests at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, he underwent robotic surgery to remove the cancer. We chose Eisenhower because they are one of the best medical centers in the country, plus the urological surgeon was highly recommended and had impeccable credentials. The operation appears to have been successful - all the post-surgery pathology tests were negative for cancerous tissues in the margins of the surgery. Many thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers, and to Rick's surgeon Dr. Geraldine Klein and her staff.

The diagnosis, surgery, and recovery required us to stay in California for five months - no complaints

Love the snow and palm trees in the same frame

The annual tournament - in 2021 no spectators because of the pandemic except residents of PGA West (we know people)

Travels

We had one cruise speaking engagement cancelled in 2020, and two more in 2021 - we hope to resume in 2022

We substituted the cruises with visits
with our adopted goddaughters

Bernard and Melissa Froehlich and their daughter Ellie Jewel in La Quinta, California

Nikki and Tim Pense with Rowan in Beaverton, Oregon

Our highlight trip of the year was the Rocky Mountaineer train excursion through British Columbia and Alberta, Canada

We had tried to take this trip for three years, but life and the pandemic got in the way. Fortunately, Canada opened the border to American visitors and we were able to go this year.

In Service to Others

We continue to support Adopt-a-Village in Guatemala to help change lives.

This little nonprofit organization's education and literacy programs bring hope to Maya children and families in Guatemala's remote western highlands and helps lift them out of generational poverty.
